Alex Cole was born in Bronxville, NY in 1972. She then spent most of her early chilhood in Paris, France and Ibiza, Spain. She moved to the United States at the age 8, living in Darien, Connecticut. At 19 she studied fine arts at The Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Md. and recieved a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1995. She now lives in Northern California, with her husband and daughter.
Alex Cole has been painting with acrylics for over a decade within the decade her subject matter has changed, but the use of bright bold colors remains a central theme in her work. Using a variety of materials, paper, fabrics and deep rich acrylic paints, her paintings become textural and beautifully layered. Her work shows the joy she has for her craft.
Alex has also been teaching painting and drawing to emerging and professional artists for over ten years. Her work is currently on exhibit at Sonoma Home, various retail outlets in Sonoma, Ca and in private collections throughout the Bay Area and the United States. Studio visits by appointment and commissions available.
